The team at Double Negative had a very limited budget to create a believable female cyborg in Ex Machina. But their vfx were amazing and Ex Machina is now facing off against the bigger budget films like Star Wars and Jurassic World.



3D Scanning Helps Create Virtual Fossil That May Reveal the Last Ancestor Common to Humans and Neanderthals

A team of researchers created a virtual fossil that may have put a face to the last ancestor common to humans and neanderthals. They combined 3D scans of several fossil skulls and modern human skulls and applied advanced digital ‘morphometrics’ and a series of algorithms to them.

The tech (and tennis balls) behind Tom Hardy’s double turn

Tom Hardy played both Kray brothers in the film Legend. To pull this off, they used a lot of split screens, green screens, a 3D scan of Hardy specifically for the fight scene, and even tennis balls. Take a look.
